A Polynesian stay is a big Disney splurge. If you are planning one this winter, check the construction notice before you picture a completely finished resort.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort refurbishment is now expected to continue through early 2027, according to October 20 reporting from BlogMickey and WDWNT, both quoting Disney’s revised guest notice. The previous timeline ran through 2026. Disney’s official resort page also flags ongoing construction and refurbishment.
What that means for your stay
The updated notice covers work at the Polynesian Village Resort and Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, including the front entrance roadway. Some views may be affected, and guests should allow extra arrival and departure time. Most dining, pools and amenities are expected to remain available.
That does not mean every room or every visit will have the same experience. Before booking, ask Disney about the work near your room category and the facilities that matter most to you. If a particular view or quiet afternoon at the resort is a major part of your vacation, make that part of the conversation.
Keep an eye on Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace
The notice quoted by WDWNT still lists the outdoor Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace closure through late October. That is a window, not a confirmed reopening day. Do not build a visit around an assumed return date without checking the latest official listing.
The NRDA take
This is a useful planning update, not a reason to automatically cross the Polynesian off your list. The question is what you want from the stay. If you plan to spend plenty of time enjoying the resort itself, construction deserves more weight in your decision.
