My Disney Traditions day, reimagined with AI. I asked it to clean things up, and apparently it decided to recast me. The dream and the ridiculously happy feeling were real.
For more than 25 years, I had a dream: someday, I’d retire, move to Orlando, and drive boats for Disney.
In 2016, I finally got the opportunity to do it.
It was the best thing I’ve ever done.
Being there every day, working alongside fellow Cast Members, meeting guests, and getting to be part of the magic made going to work something I looked forward to. I wanted to keep working, keep being involved, and experience everything Disney had to offer.
Driving Friendship Boats at Epcot was where that dream became real. Before COVID, I also worked as a trainer and coordinator. Over time, my Disney story expanded to serving at Sebastian’s Bistro at Caribbean Beach Resort and The Edison in Disney Springs. After COVID, I became General Manager at Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs.
Each role gave me another way to experience a place that had meant so much to me for so long. The people were a huge part of it, both the ones I worked with and the guests we welcomed.
That’s where Non-Recovering Disney Addicts comes from.
I want this to be a place where we can talk about all of it: the parks, the resorts, the food, the things we love, and the things we think could be better. Disney Springs is part of my story, but so is the rest of Walt Disney World.
If you’ve ever found yourself thinking about your next Disney visit before the current one is over, you’ll fit right in.
I spent more than 25 years dreaming about being part of Disney. After finally getting there, I’m still not ready to stop.
Welcome to Non-Recovering Disney Addicts.
There is no cure. And I’m fine with that.
